Rooted in the intimate energy of the jazz experience, ALINE focused on carrying that connection throughout the redesigned venue space at The Nash on Roosevelt Row in downtown Phoenix. With The Nash’s music school being moved to an adjacent building, this allowed ALINE to create an improved experience within the venue while the new John Dawson Jazz Education Center offers state-of-the-art rehearsal rooms, a recording studio, and versatile spaces for learning.
Ultimately, the overall size of the seating area of The Nash remained the same, but the stage grew to allow a full ten-piece band to perform. The types of seating were diversified beyond just chairs to booth lounge and banquettes and introducing new bar seating. The bar itself is a welcome addition, anchoring the space on non-concert nights and encouraging pre-and-post functionality use of the venue. Beyond the improved concert experience, the green room space for the artists was enhanced (from a previous shared “conference room”) and the food and drink program was increased to handle more diverse fare to also encourage longer visits from patrons.
