Jin Jia, otherwise meaning “Chef’s House”, is an elevated Asian restaurant concept which was born out of collaboration with the client to create and develop a vision for the unique dining experience. We began the project with listening to the owner’s thoughts and ideas for his modern, Chinese concept with a Korean twist. One of the important design components was the incorporation of reds and golds throughout the space which are meaningful colors in Chinese culture and symbolize happiness and good fortune as well as royalty. Earthy elements such as chiseled stone, light-toned wood, and an expansive faux rammed earth wall express a connection to nature within the space. The ambiance was carefully crafted with the integration of lanterns throughout, another component important to the culture. Furthermore, the dining room brings people together to enjoy a “family” style meal and enjoy the modern, elevated Chinese/Korean vibe by offering private booths surrounded with sheer metal drapery, and large round tables with a center rotating element to enhance the dining experience.
